[A ShadAmy One-shot] Amy Rose had her life turned upside down just because of a stupid Fortune Cookie. Having a bad day? Well, maybe a certain ebony hedgehog can change that.
~•~
Bad Day, Good Night
~•~
Normal POV!
It all started on one evening. A pink hedgehog with big, bright jade eyes was just minding her own business inside a Chinese Restaurant. She was wearing an orange floral dress with matching yellow shoes.
Across from her was a female, ivory bat with baby blue eyes. She wore a navy blue sleeveless blouse, and a fitting short black skirt that showed her curves. She wore a matching navy blue shoes with hills as well making her much taller than she already is to the sakura hedgehog.
The cherry pink female smiled at her friend. "So Rouge, I heard Knuckles finally asked you out?"
The bat, Rouge, smiled at the hedgehog. "Yeah. We had an argument at first, but then the words 'I like you' just slipped out of his mouth!" she giggled, her friend laughing along. "Oh Amy, you should've seen his face!"
The pink female, Amy, giggled in response. "Yeah, I wish I could've seen it..." she chuckled, their laugh quieting down. "But I'd rather give you two an alone time." she smiled, making the bat smile back at her. "By the way, why were you two arguing in the first place?"
The bat bit her lip. "Well..."
Flashback...
Rouge hummed as she walked down the hall of Emerald High. There weren't any students in the corridor because it was class hours. She was in Spanish class with Amy when she felt the need to use the toilet to... open the chamber of secrets.
Rouge took her time in walking silently, enjoying the silence around her. Sure she loves to gossip and be talkative sometimes. But there are times when she enjoyed the peacefulness around her. She sighed in content, when suddenly...
"C'mon, pleeeaaase" a female voice begged 'sweetly'. "It'll just take a few minutes!"
Rouge narrowed her eyes. She knew that voice. It was Tikal. The classic highschool drama queen. She wasn't entirely mean, but she is a hothead, and overreact at some situations. But with Rouge being short tempered as well, not good.
"No way!" a deep growl was heard as a response. It sounded irritated and annoyed.
Rouge knew who the second voice was. It was Knuckles, captain of the Football Team. Out of all male Mobians, he was the only one who despised the bat. But sometimes, they actually got along very well.
Rouge frowned. 'Why is he with her?!' she thought angrily. She didn't know why, but those two were very close. They would always walk home together after school, walk to class together, eat together, which is one of the reasons as to why Rouge disliked Tikal. It's not that she hates her, she can just be annoying sometimes.
After hearing the males voice, Rouge crouched low and peeked at the hallway, forgetting her main objective. Her eyes filled with curiosity as she saw two echidnas standing near the lockers. One, an orange echidna wearing a white shirt that showed her belly and a green and brown checkered mini skirt with brown doll shoes. Secondly, a red echidna with violet eyes with an upside down, white crescent shaped part of his fur was shown.
"Oh come on, Knuckles!" Tikal whined.
Knuckles gave the female echidna a look of disgust, putting Rouge deep in thought.
What are they talking about? What is Tikal implying? Why would Knuckles be disgusted by a simple-?! Rouge paused. 'Is she talking about-?' she thought out of shock, unable to finish it. 'No, they wouldn't -It's too-!'
"It won't take long, I promise." Tikal smiled pleadingly, batting her eyes at the red echidna causing him to sigh in defeat and mutter a, 'fine' causing the orange echidna to squeal in delight.
Rouge's eyes widened. They couldn't be talking about doing it, were they?! Tears began to form at the corners of her big, blue eyes. She watched as the two walked away, the female smiling in triumph whilst the male looked hesitant. Rouge turned away with a look of hurt. She looked at them one last time before eventually walking away.
~•~
Knuckles walked along the hallway, whistling a tune to himself. It was lunch and his friends were already there, all students were. He was literally the only person in the hallway... or so he thought.
He stopped in his tracks when he heard a few sniffing sounds. He would usually let it be and go on with his business, but the familiar scent of perfume prevented him from doing so. He knew that smell.
He turned the corner where the sound was coming from and found the one and only, Rouge the Bat... crying. To say that he was shocked is an understatement. Why would he find Rouge, out of all Mobians, crying in the hallway?!
"Um, Rouge?" Knuckles asked uneasily.
Rouge stopped sobbing and raised her head, revealing her mascara covered face. She scowled at him. "What do you want!" she snarled angrily.
Knuckles stared at her blankly. "I was just wondering why you're crying..."
"It's none of your business!" she growled with a deep frown as Knuckles approached her. "Now go away!" she sniffed as the scene a while ago flashed in her mind.
Knuckles frowned. "No. Rouge, tell me what's wrong." he asked firmly with a hint of worry, much to Rouge's surprise.
The ivory bat's shocked look faded into a look of anger and irritation. "What's wrong? What's WRONG?! What's wrong is YOU! You sex-crazed bastard!" she exclaimed in anger as tears started to pour down while she continuously started punching Knuckles' chest with her fist.
Knuckles looked at her with a puzzled look, completely unfazed by her hits. "What are you talking a-?!" his eyes widened as he realized something. "Wait, were you listening to me and Tikal's conversation?"
Rouge nodded, wiping her face.
"Rouge..." Knuckles closed his eyes halfway with a lazy grin on his face. "Were you jealous?"
Abruptly, Rouge shot up from her crouching position, almost knocking Knuckles, who was also crouching beside her.
"Just..." Rouge gritted her teeth, her back facing Knuckles, who was looking at her clenched fist. "... leave me alone..." she sighed, unclenching her fist and began to walk away.
"Wait, Rouge!" Knuckles said, jogging beside Rouge as she continued walking. "What you saw wasn't what it looked like!"
"Then what?" Rouge hissed, not looking at him.
"Tikal, she -Tikal was-"
"She what, Knuckles?!" Rouge glared at Knuckles. "Seduced you? Tempted you?! I don't think so, 'cuz you took it rather willingly! Now stay away from me!" she yelled, stomping away from the red echidna as he tried to catch up.
"You don't understand Rouge! It's not like tha-"
"I don't want to hear it!"
"Wait! Let me explai-"
"No!"
"I don't like her at all! I-"
"So it's only a one session then? Doesn't mean you won't do it again." Rouge scoffed.
"No! I -It's not- I-I..." Knuckles stammered before eventually sighing. "I like you, okay?!" he blurted out causing Rouge to freeze.
"Y-You... what?"
Knuckles took a deep breath, and looked at Rouge in the eye with a serious look. "I like you."
"W-What about Tikal?" Rouge asked, sounding like she was about to cry again.
"That's what I was trying to say..." Knuckles said softly and began to explain. "Tikal was asking me if I could pretend to be her boyfriend to make someone jealous."
"Then why'd she choose you?"
Knuckles sighed. "She's my... sister."
Rouge blink. "Your what?"
"She's my sister, and she chose me because no one in this school knows that." he explained.
"Then why didn't you tell me?"
"You never asked."
Rouge blushed. "O-Oh... Then, I'm sorry for... jumping to conclusions so easily -I-I-"
Knuckles shushed her by putting a finger know her lips. "There's no need to apologize." he smiled softly. "But now that you know the truth, I want to ask you a question." he said as Rouge nodded for him to continue. "Will you go out with me?"
Silence followed right after his question. Knuckles whimpered silently, waiting for the rejection, the laughing, and the teasing. Being rejected is pretty humiliating when you're popular around the school. Until...
"Yes!"
Before Knuckles could even process her answer, the white bat grouped him. To avoided falling know his back, the red echidna spun her around before eventually stopping with both if them smiling.
Knuckles blushed, noticing that their lips were inches apart. He noticed that his now girlfriend had her eyes half closed, slowly leaning in. He took it as an open invitation and leaned in for a kiss.
However, before he could even make contact with her glossy lips, Rouge's eyes widened with a blush. "Um, Knuckles?" she said nervously, causing the echidna to halt and open his eyes with a confused look. "I need to use the bathroom!" she blurted out before running away from him.
Knuckles blinked as he watched Rouge sprint away from her. His eyes closed halfway as a smile remained plastered across his face.
"She said yes..."
End of Flashback...
"Wait." Amy looked at Rouge wide eyed. "So, you're telling me that Knuckles and Tikal... are siblings?!"
"I know right!" Rouge giggled.
"What about their little jealousy plan?"
"Oh that?" Rouge waved her off. "It only lasted three days before the guy gave up and came clean with his feelings. I forgot his name, but I heard he and Tikal are now dating."
"I'm guessing you and Knuckles kept your relationship hidden until the jealousy plan was over, huh?" Amy sipped her pink lemonade.
"Yep." Rouge chirped happily. "So how about you and Blue? Anything new?" she asked lazily, as if she wasn't interested in the topic. She knew Amy had a crush on the blue hedgehog, but the way Sonic treats her, just made Rouge pissed off.
"Um, nothing yet..." Amy trailed of, biting her lip. "But I heard from Tails that he's going to ask a 'special girl' out!" she grinned, her eyes shining with hope. "Tails looked nervous when I asked him who the special girl is, so I figured it would be me!"
Rouge sighed. "Uh, Amy? Are you sure about that?" she asked.
The pink hedgehog's grin faded. "What do you mean?"
Rouge gave her a look that says, 'Ain't it obvious?'. "Amy... Sonic and Sally seems to be closer than usual, don't you think?" she asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"Of course they are." Amy said as if nothing was wrong about it. "They were paired up to a project, remember?" she reminded.
Rouge shook her head and opened her mouth to say something, but closed it again, thinking it would be better if she figured it out herself. "Oh look, the Fortune Cookies are here!"
On cue, the waitress placed the cookies on the table. "Is there anything else you'd like?" she asked politely.
"Um, yes." Rouge smiled, looking at her. The waitress was a purple hedgehog, hair tied in a high bun, and with magenta eyes. "Could you bring me some sushis? Take-out, please."
The waitress smiled. "Anything else?" she asked, writing the order down.
"No thanks..." Rouge said, reading the waitress' name tag. "Rachel."
"No problem, miss." Rachel nodded before walking away.
Amy faced the ivory bat. "Take-out?"
Rouge nodded. "Yes, well... Knuckles invited me to his house for a movie night." she blushed. "The movie theaters were too cramped."
"Or he just wants an, 'alone time' with you, eh?" Amy suggested with a smirk.
"Whatever." Rouge rolled her eyes, picking up a fortune cookie and cracking it open. The blush on her cheeks could be seen despite her white fur as she read her fortune.
Amy noticed Rouge's change in behavior making her worry. "Is there something wrong, Rouge?"
"I-I-ah uh..." Rouge stuttered.
Before Rouge could respond, Amy snatched the paper away from Rouge. Out of shock, Rouge didn't bother trying to take it back.
"You and your partner will have the best night of you lives?!" Amy laughed after reading the paper. "Oh Rouge, what kind of, 'night' will you two be having?"
"M-Maybe a great movie night! Yeah! I mean, spending time with your boyfriend is great, right?"
Amy giggled. "Don't worry so much, Rouge. What happens tonight, depends on what you will do." she said, picking up a fortune cookie. Her smile didn't falter as she read the fortune without a care.
'Bad luck is coming your way...'
Rouge leaned in to read the pink hedgehogs fortune before looking at her friend with a worried glance. "This... is bad."
Amy rolled her eyes. "What do you mean it's bad? It's just a fortune from a cookie, it's not real." she snorted.
Rouge sighed. "Whatever you say, Amy." she said, standing up as Rachel arrived with a paper bag. "Just, be careful."
Amy, once again, rolled her eyes. "Okay, Rouge." she said as Rouge left the restaurant, leaving her alone. She sighed, slouching on her chair as she thought about her fortune. 'Don't think about it too much. It's just a stupid fortune.' she thought with furrowed eyebrows before shrugging it off.
'What could possibly go wrong?'
Amy sighed and picked up her things. She placed the piece of paper in her pocket before picking up her purse. She paid her bill on the table before walking out of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Rachel was leaning on the counter with a worried look. A white hedgehog with blue eyes approached her looking concerned. "What's wrong, sis?"
"She didn't read the whole fortune." Rachel replied, not looking at him.
A black hedgehog with red eyes snorted. "Doesn't matter. She'll figure it out eventually. Don't worry about it too much." he shrugged, looking at the white hedgehog. "Come on Broady, we still have work to do." he said as he and Broady left Rachel in thought.
"I hope so, Ion. I hope so..."

The next day, Amy woke up not feeling so sleepy anymore. She smiled with her eyes closed, taking her time on the bed.
'I don't feel tired at all, so I guess I had enough sleep last night' she thought looking at the window and frowning. 'Funny, I thought the sun only rises when my alarm goes off.' she fighting as she noticed the sun was fully up. Her eyes widened in realization, looking where her clock was placed. 'Unless...'
As soon as her emerald eyes landed on her clock, she bolted out of her bed. She was late, only fifteen minutes before school starts. She frantically ran to her bathroom when her toe hit her dresser. "OW! Who put that there?!" she screeched before shaking her head and running in the bathroom.
Once bathed and clothed, the pink hedgehog ran out of her room and down the stairs only to slip at the last step of the staircase. "Gah!" she yelped as she proceeded to slide down roughly.
Amy groaned as she sat up, wincing at the pain on her rear. Her eyes wandered around her home as she rubbed the spot where it hurts when it landed on her wall clock. Five minutes before school begins.
Amy jolted up quickly, ignoring the pain on her legs, and rushed out of her house as fast as possible. She ran out of her house, locking it in the process, and sprinted towards her school.
~•~
"-because kites are important in China since it's a signal for ano-"
Rouge rolled her eyes as the teacher, Mrs. Alicia Acorn, continues to babble on and on about how kites are helpful in the previous wars. Seriously, it's just kites! A play thing that kids use for entertainment nowadays.
Rouge sighed and thought about last night. Last night was amazing. She spent the night cuddling with Knuckles as they watched a movie, but when the scene turned to the kissing scene, they ended up having a Make-out session. Her face flushed thinking what could've happened if they continued.
But her smile faltered when she thought of her pink friend. How is she doing? Is she okay? She's supposed to be in school by now!
Knuckles was in Science class with Mr. Chuck, while she and Amy were supposed to be having Social Studies by now. What could possibly have happened to her.
Her mind began to show images of Amy in different situations, all ending badly. Before her thoughts could progress further, there was a knock on that door. And to Rouge's relief, Amy came in.
"S-Sorry I'm late, Mrs. Acorn." the pink hedgehog smiled sheepishly as the brown chipmunk with auburn hair glared at her.
Alicia sighed. "I'll let it pass for now, but next time you show up late you'll be serving detention, understood?"
"Y-Yes, Mrs. Acorn." she said as she sat down on and empty chair beside Rouge -which she had been saving for Amy (Rouge kept glaring at whoever dared to sit beside her)- whilst Alicia continued teaching.
"What happened to you?" Rouge whispered, noticing Amy's -um, messed up quills.
"Rough morning." Amy mumbled opening her notebook to take down notes.
"Hm..." Rouge thought for a moment. Amy was never late -she usually comes to school thirty minutes early. She eyed her friend suspiciously before coming to a conclusion. "Amy, remember the fortune cookie?"
Amy groaned silently. "Rouge, it's fake fortune." she grumbled. "It's just a coincidence, that's all."
"But-"
"That's all."
Rouge clamped her mouth shut. All these bad lucks must've gotten her into a bad mood... and it won't end good if she pressed it further. Deciding to leave her alone, the bat looked at Amy one last time before looking back at the teacher.
~•~
Math. The worst subject of all, most hated subject by students. Why did Satan have to add the alphabet in Math?
Amy sighed. Rouge and Knuckles have Spanish together -which is good. Don't get her wrong, she loves Rouge's company but right now... she just wanted to be alone.
On the bright side...
Sonic also have this subject with her! Amy sits at the back of the classroom near the window, while the blue hedgehog sits two seats in front of her, either way they're in the same room.
Amy squealed to herself as she sat on her seat. Even if Rouge wasn't with her, even if she was having a bad morning at least... at least... Sonic's there with her.
"Rose?"
Oh, and Shadow too.
"Hey Shadow!" Amy chirped as Shadow sat beside her. Shadow is a distant friend of Rouge, and Amy's now closest friend.
Surprisingly, the two were even closer to each other than the ivory bat.
"Um, what happened to your hair?" Shadow asked as he looked at Amy's quills -which was raised up almost like Sonic's.
"Oh, this?" Amy asked, pushing her hair down as Shadow nodded, staring at her. "I was on my way to school when this white car drove past me, blowing my hair up."
Shadow nodded and looked at the front as the teacher arrived. "I received a detention today."
"What? Why?" Amy asked as she tried pushing her hair down again, which keeps on standing up with her every attempt.
Shadow shrugged. "Mr. Antoine caught me about to punch Faker."
Amy narrowed her eyes at him causing her hair to bristle and rise again. "Why would you punch Sonic, Shadow? He's never done anything to you."
"True, but I can't keep watching him lead you on." he sighed. "I'm tired of seeing him acting like a gentleman to you, when he's just doing it to impress someone else."
"Some... one... else?" Amy breathed as she looked ahead, at Sonic. "But I thought... he was doing it to impress... me."
"He... doesn't like you that way, Rose." Shadow rolled his eyes. He couldn't believe Amy still thinks she has a chance with faker.
Amy remained silent as she focused at nothing in particular with a dazed look. 'So he likes someone else, huh?' she thought. 'Maybe Shadow's just saying that so I could give up on Sonic.' she thought hopefully. 'After all, Shadow does hate Sonic.' she sighed. 'Then again, Rouge did say th-!'
"Oof!" Amy winced as she felt something hard hit her head. "Ow~" she whimpered, looking down she saw a book. She looked at the ebony hedgehog, asking for an explanation.
Shadow chuckled and pointed towards the floor, where a yellow mongoose with purple hair, Mina, was being helped up by a male mongoose with jet black hair, Ash, off the floor.
Amy rolled her eyes. Mina is a very clumsy student, luckily Ash is there to help her at all times. She sighed as she picked up the book, about to give it back to Mina when...
"Eek!" Amy squeaked when she stepped on the puddle of orange juice (who put that there?!) and slipped on the floor. Just as she was about to make contact with the cold hard floor, a pair of arms latched onto her for. She slowly looked up and made contact with a pair of ruby red eyes.
Time seemed to slow down as the two hedgehogs looked deep on each others' eyes. The space between them were closing in the longer they looked. Just as their lips were inches apart...
"Ames, you okay?"
Amy blinked and jumped out of Shadow's arms and faced the source of sound. Shadow rolled his eyes and shook his head as he watched Amy face his rival.
"H-Hi Sonic!" she smiled towards the blue hedgehog with lime green eyes, completely forgetting the onyx hedgehog's existence.
"You okay, Ames?" the blue speedster asked again.
"Uh, yeah. I'm fine." she said.
Sonic smiled at her and walked away, back into his seat. Amy smiled dreamily at the previous spot Sonic was. "My hero..."
"If you're done daydreaming, you could give Mina her book now so we can get back to our seats." Shadow scoffed.
Amy snapped out of her thoughts and rushed to Mina, giving her the book back while Mina gave a shy, 'thank you' before Amy rushed back into her seat.
Shadow rolled his eyes. He was a little offended when Amy called Sonic, 'her hero' when it was him who caught her in the first place. All the blue idiot did was ask if she's alright. He sighed. Amy can be so naive sometimes. Maybe one day... she will finally realize tha-
"Ow!" he heard Amy whimper. He turned towards the pink hedgehog and saw her rubbing her knee. She must've hit her knee under the table. "Stupid table!" she whispered angrily causing Shadow to roll his eyes.
'Still clumsy as ever...'
~•~
It was before lunch. Rouge told her that Knuckles would be joining their table. It was always her, Rouge, and Shadow. But since Rouge and Knuckles are dating now, Knuckles will be sitting with them from now on.
Amy just finished Science with Shadow. While the black and red hedgehog went to the cafeteria, Amy had excused herself to the bathroom. She just got out and is now heading to the lunch room when...
"Can I talk to you?"
Amy paused. Was that Sonic?
"Sure! What is it, Sonic?"
Sally?
Amy turned a corner and saw a blue hedgehog with a brown chipmunk that had auburn hair with blue eyes. Amy quickly hid behind the wall, her left ear was perked up, listening to their conversation.
"Hey um, listen I-" Sonic inhaled, as if he was about to reveal a big secret to her -which he is. "I've been meaning to tell you this for a long time and..." he began making Amy's breath hitch. What is he saying? "I-I... like you, Sally. Other girls might go chasing my heart, but they don't know that my heart has always been after you..." he paused as Sally blushed. "So, what I'm trying to say is-... is that I-"
"Shh..." Sally smiled. "Yes Sonic, I will go out with you." she smiled and hugged Sonic.
The two Mobians stayed hugging each other, not letting go, indulging the moment. Unknown to them, a certain pink hedgehog watched the whole scene...
...and it broke her inside...
~•~
Shadow walked down the hallway with a concerned expression. He, Knuckles and Rouge were waiting for Amy, but she never came.
That's when Rouge brought up the topic of the Fortune Cookie. Rouge told them that maybe Amy might've been delayed by bad luck -according to the fortune.
While Knuckles laughed it off, Shadow had walked away without looking back, saying he will go look for the missing pink hedgehog and convinced the two to have lunch without them.
Shadow groaned silently. Those fortune cookies were bad news. He already had a run in with its power, but in a good way. It was the time when he met her...
Flashback...
Shadow trudged along the school yard tiredly. School wasn't about to start until thirty minutes later. He didn't get enough sleep last night, and he was so tired.
Shadow sighed tiredly, placing his hands inside his pocket when he felt something crumple. He pulled out his hand to find a folded piece of paper. He raised a brow, not remembering himself putting it there. He unfolded it and read it...
'In a garden full of flowers, you will find a lone rose whom you will find yourself attached to despite its thorns.'
Shadow almost laughed. Now he remembered. He went to a Chinese restaurant last night -which explains why he was tired- and received this fortune cookie.
But, he was a bit confused. He's in the school garden, surrounded by flowers, but there weren't any roses. The fortune was close, but not close enough.
Shadow smirked, thinking how stupid fortune cookies could be. He continued to walk around the small garden, checking if there really was a rose, when his eyes landed on a pink hedgehog sitting on a bench, eyes locked on a book.
She was a foot smaller than him, eyes an emerald hue, full of wonders as she read a simple book. Her fur looked soft, and she has a petite form.
She looked beautiful.
Maybe this is what the fortune meant. No, Shadow shook his head. There's no way he was falling for that stupid fortune. Shadow turned, looking one last time at the pink hedgehog, and finally walked away, without saying a word.
It was stupid.
End of Flashback...
Unfortunately, he was wrong. Day by day, he always bumps into her, no matter where he go. He almost thought she was following him. Until to the point where they finally met, truly met.
She introduced herself, Amy. The name stayed in his mind for weeks. It didn't help that she would always come to him. Ever since then, he and Amy became close.
Shadow realized that, the fortune was right. Amy was the rose, who he found himself attached to. The only thorn around her is the fact that she likes Sonic. Despite the cold hard truth, he continued to stay beside her.
But that fortune was a good one, a positive. It brought Shadow an opportunity to be happy again. But what about Amy?
Rouge said that there fortune she received was bad luck. Did something happen to her? Bad scenarios begin to swarm Shadow's mind making him worry. Just as he was about to go in panic mode, he caught a glimpse of pink from the corner of his eyes.
Shadow turned and saw... Amy. She was sitting on the same bench where he first met her... well, more like saw her. He approached and stopped short when he noticed her eyes looked dull.
"Rose?" he asked with concern, sitting beside her. "Why didn't you come to lunch? Did something happen?"
"I-It's nothing, Shadow." Amy sniffed, wiping her tears away.
"You know that's bad for your eyes, right?" he said, but Amy continued to wipe her eyes. "Rose?" he said, but she still continued. "Rose? Rose! Rose, stop it." he said sternly, grabbing her wrists making her look at him.
Before he knew it, she wept. Amy continued to cry while Shadow tried to comfort her by hugging her close.
"Shh... Rose, Amy, what happened?" he asked. "Please Amy, tell me what happened."
"S-Sonic... h-he..." Amy sobbed.
Shadow's eyes narrowed. "Did he hurt you?" he asked with a hint of anger, but his eyes softened when she shook her head.
"N-No Shadow, h-he -it wasn't his fault." she stammered. "I-It was mine. I-I should've listened to you w-when I had the chance." she sniffed. "You were right, he didn't like me that way..."
Shadow sighed and pulled her close. They stayed in an embrace for a moment until Amy calmed down. After they were done, the two of them went into the lunchroom.
Rouge was pretty worried when she found Amy's condition. Shadow explained to them what happened so they weren't too confused.
"I see..." Rouge sighed, looking at Amy. "Don't worry hun, it wasn't your fault. Sonic did lead you on, right?"
"Rouge is right." Knuckles agreed, standing on his chair while holding a pie causing the other three to look up at him in confusion. "Guys that plays a girl's feelings... are the kind I hate the most!" he said as Rouge blushed before throwing the pie towards Sonic's direction.
Splat!
Everyone was silent as Sonic remained wide-eyed. He turned around his seat with an irritated expression. "Alright who threw that?!"
Everyone looked at Knuckles, who stood coolly with a calm expression. "He did it!" he smirked, pointing at a green hedgehog with blue eyes, Scourge, who was talking to a pink hedgehog with a lighter shade of green eyes, Rosy.
"Wait, what?" Scourge asked with a confused look.
"FOOD FIGHT!"
And that's when hell broke lose...
~•~
Shadow, Knuckles, and Rouge walked out of the principal's office with a frown. The principal had given them a detention that they will be serving after school. And since homecoming is later tonight, they won't just sit and wait till detention is over, but will help set up the homecoming dance at the school gym.
Honey the Cat, a yellow cat with jet black hair, girlfriend of Mighty the Armadillo, is an overly honest girl. She saw Knuckles throw the pie and told the principal. And now, here they were.
Knuckles started the food fight, which is why he is greatly involved. Rouge was seen throwing an apple towards Julie-Su, and since apples are hard, you probably know what happened. While Shadow was just... dragged in.
"Sorry for getting you guys in trouble with me." Knuckles mumbled with a guilty expression.
"Awe~ Knucky, it wasn't your fault." Rouge smiled. "You only did that for Amy, and there's nothing wrong with that."
"Speaking of which," Shadow coughed, catching the other two's attention. "Where is Amy?"
~•~
Amy walked out of the restroom with an annoyed expression. During the food fight, a spaghetti landed on her head, tomatoes on her eyes, and -as cliche as it sounds- slipped on a banana peel.
Amy walked away from the cafeteria before it got even worse, and so, she went straight to the bathroom to clean herself. Part of her was guilty for leaving her friends, but another part of her is glad she managed to not get in trouble and avoid detention.
"Well, well, well... If it isn't the little pink brat."
Spoke too soon.
Amy sighed, facing the owner of the voice. She found a maroon colored fox with blue eyes, glowering at her.
"What do you want, Fiona?" Amy asked, rolling her eyes. She's had a bad day as it is, even to the pint where she almost believed it was because if the fortune cookie. But this?
"Well, the garbage truck is going to arrive soon, so I'll make this quick," Fiona taunted before narrowing her eyes at Amy. "Why were you hugging my Shady in the garden?"
Amy rolled her eyes. 'Stalker...' she thought. Fiona had been after Shadow before he and Amy even met. Of course...
"He was just helping me, Fio." Amy explained. "Besides, it's not like you two are dating or something."
"We aren't." Fiona admitted. "But he's still mine."
"And what makes you think you own him?" Amy scoffed. She didn't know why, but Fiona was really getting on her nerves.
"Because I like him, and he likes me." she smiled before giggling. "You must be thinking, 'How did you get Shady to like you?'. Well, pinky, I didn't do nothing." she smirked.
Amy scoffed again, leaning back with a bored expression. "It's, 'I didn't do anything'. 'Didn't do nothing' is a double negative, infers the positive." she rolled her eyes. "Your grammar is terrible."
Fiona flushed in anger and embarrassment at her remark. There were a few students who were watching them now.
"S-So?! Who are you to teach me?" Fiona asked with an annoyed look. "Bitch." she added with a smirk.
"Someone smarter than you." Amy replied without missing a beat. "Listen, I'm a nice person. So if I'm a bitch to you, you need to ask yourself why."
"Ugh." Fiona grunted with an ugly scowl on her face. "I may not be smarter than you, but I'm more successful than you!"
"Success is like being pregnant. Everybody says, 'congratulations' but nobody knows how many times you were fucked." Amy fired back, stepping closer to the fox. "Don't pretend that you're higher than us, because you've been in our place before."
"Y-You... Ugh!" Fiona growled, stomping her foot. "See this is why you're alone!"
"So what if I'm alone?" Amy said. "It's better than faking friends with everyone."
"Are you saying I'm fake? Are you saying I'm a plastic?!"
"What does it look like?"
"Argh!" Fiona growled before tackling Amy... at least, tried to.
Amy had stepped aside before Fiona could even push her. There was a loud 'thud' as Fiona's head made contact with the locker, knocking her out
"Oohh, that's gotta hurt." Amy winced before turning to face the crowd of students. "Well, you saw what happened. She jumped, I dodged." she shrugged before turning to a nearby staircase when she heard footsteps.
A red and pink echidna emerged from the staircase. They were Lien-Da and Julie-Su, closest friends of Fiona. Their eyes widened when they saw Fiona.
"What took you guys so long?" Amy asked. "Your, 'friend' here needs some medical attention. You should probably take her to the infirmary, or something." she said, turning around to walk away when...
"Ahem." came a sound from none other than the principal, Ivo Robitnik. "Miss Rose," he said sternly making Amy gulp. "Office, now." he said, making Amy look down.
'So much for avoiding detention.'
~•~
Amy looked at the restroom mirror with a frown. She just received a detention from the principal. It's not fair! Fiona was the one who started it!
"Breathe..." Amy inhaled. "It's only a bad day, not a bad life..." she sighed. 'At least Shadow will be there...'
Amy paused. Knuckles and Rouge will be there too, so why does she feel warm inside just by knowing Shadow is there too?
Amy raised her hand and placed on her chest, feeling her heart beat. She had never felt this way before. When it was Sonic, her heartbeat would speed up. When it was Shadow, her heart would skip a beat. Her eyes widened in sudden realization.
Could she be falling for Shadow?
~•~
"I'm so proud of you!" Rouge squealed, hugging Amy like a mother would. "You finally stood up from Fiona!"
"Yeah." Amy smiled sheepishly. "But I got in trouble for it."
"And it was worth it." Knuckles smiled while Rouge nodded.
Amy looked at Shadow's direction only to see him giving her a look of approval, making Amy blush. Yep, you got it right.
Amy Rose is crushing on Shadow.
Shadow the Hedgehog likes Amy.
The only thing left to do is confess.
"Alright, kids!" yelled the female coach, Bunnie Raboot. She was a brown female rabbit with a robotic arm, and a robotic leg. "Since our homecoming is tonight, I'm gonna need your help to set it up. If y'all need anything, don't be afraid to ask me, hun-buns!" she said.
"Yes, ma'am!"
"Okay, not Knuckles and Rouge, you kids go on ahead and set up the tables with Jet and Wave." she ordered as Knuckles and Rouge walked away with a green and purple swallow. "Shadow, go and get the banners for me, will 'ya?" she said as Shadow nodded and left before facing Amy. "Well, pinky, since you're the only one left, why don't you get some ice from the freezer while I get the snacks, sugah?"
Amy nodded before walking away.
~•~
Amy gaped at the freezer. It was big. It was one of those freezers that could fit a person inside, as big as a room. She gulped as she unlocked the metal door's prick and tried to pull it open. It was heavy.
When she opened the door, it kept closing on its own. As if a small wind could close it. There were two packs of hotdogs beside the door, so she used it to keep the door from closing in on her.
Amy walked inside, examining the freezer. It was cold, and everything was covered with ice. Almost as if it was snowing inside. She scanned the shelves and found no ice, only meat. She approached one of the shelf and stood on her tiptoes and -aha! There it is!
Amy raised her arms up, trying to grab the pack of ice as much as she can. Just as her finger tips were about to touch the object she's been aiming for...
Boom!
Amy gasped as she turned around. The door was closed! "No, no no no NO!" she chanted in panic as she ran to the door. She tried prying it open, but it wouldn't budge!
Great, now she's locked up in a freezer with no way of escape whatsoever. Who knew Amy Rose was gonna die inside a huge freezer in a school?
~•~
The setup was almost finished and Amy was nowhere to be seen. Knuckles was the first to notice this and informed the other two of his new discovery.
Shadow and Rouge were worried and asked Bunnie where she last saw the pink hedgehog. She said the last time she saw her was when she asked her to go get some ice from the freezer.
And so, the trio were now in front of the freezer.
"Well, the freezer's closed. So maybe Amy ditched detention?" Knuckles suggested, only for Rouge to elbow him in the gut.
"No. Amy never ditches her punishments... and she would never ditch her friends." Rouge defended.
"How about we go search for her." Shadow suggested, trying to avoid a love quarrel from happening.
"Fine. I'll go search outside." Knuckles grumbled before walking away.
"And I'll go look in the rooms." Rouge muttered as she went to search in the girl's restroom first.
"I guess I'll search the hallways." Shadow mumbled to himself.
A few hours later and still no sign of Amy. The trio met up in front of the freezer with disappointed looks.
"There's no one outside." Knuckles sighed tiredly.
"No one in the classrooms." Rouge said with a look of distraught.
"The hallways are empty." Shadow sighed profusely. "Maybe she did go home."
"No!" Rouge objected. "Amy wouldn't leave us, and if she did she could've texted me!" she said.
"Rouge is right." Knuckles said, placing a hand on Rouge's left shoulder. "Even though I just met her, she looks like someone who wouldn't do something like that..."
"Okay..." Shadow sighed. "How about we sit here and think of places where Amy could possibly be." he suggested to which the couple agreed.
~•~
Amy sighed hopelessly as she sat at the corner of the freezing 'room'. Her arms were clamped around her small frame as her body shook harshly. She was shivering like a dead shriveled leaf!
'This is it, right?' the sakura hedgehog thought hopelessly. 'At this rate, I'm going to freeze to death.' she thought recalling the past hours she's been there. 'I should've listened to Rouge. I shouldn't have taken the Fortune Cookies lightly.' she regretted before frowning. 'And I didn't even had the chance to tell Shadow...'
'No!' Amy frowned. 'I shouldn't give up so easily.' she thought as her eyes sparked with determination. 'I need to find a way to get out of here and tell Shadow that I... like him.' she thought, standing up.
Amy ran to the door and tried to open it again, but it wouldn't move. It was as if the door was just a decoration on the wall. She tried pulling again with her eyes shut, trying to put some force into it.
Amy opened one eye to check if she was making any progress only to gape at the sign before her. The small, yellow sign read:
'Push'
Her eyes widened is shock and disbelief. 'You've gotta be kidding me!' she thought angrily. 'I've been freezing this whole time thinking the door was locked?!'
Well, she did pull it open earlier, and she didn't even think of pushing it open from the inside. Not to mention that there wasn't any metallic clatter that indicates that the door's prick locked the door.
Amy sighed and pushed open the door and...
~•~
"What about the garden?" Rouge suggested.
"I already checked there." Knuckles sighed.
Rouge sighed. "Where else could Amy be?!"
The other two sighed. What happened to Amy? Maybe she got lost? Or kidnapped?! Or maybe even worse!
Just when their thoughts were taking a turn for the worst, the door of the freezer opened and the first thing they saw was a silhouette surrounded by a steam-like fog.
The first thing that came to mind was that it was a small, Mobian-sized Yettie. But then...
"S-So... c-c-cold-d..."
"Amy?" Rouge asked as the fog cleared while Shadow rushed to her side.
Instead if answering, Amy leaned in Shadow's chest fur and nuzzled it. "S-So... warm..." she mumbled against the ebony hedgehog's chest causing Shadow to blush while Rouge gave him a knowing look.
"Amy?!" Knuckles and Rouge shouted when Amy fainted while Shadow caught her, and lifted the unconscious hedgehog in his arms, bridal-style.
"She's cold." Knuckles said as the pink hedgehog's knee accidentally made contact with his arm.
"You guys go on ahead. I'll go take Amy home." Shadow said.
Before anyone could have a chance to speak, Shadow sped away with the pink beauty in his arms leaving a crimson red streak and two baffled Mobians.
~•~
Shadow laid the frail hedgehog down on the bed as gentle as he could. Her skin was really pale and cold making Shadow even more worried. He picked up a blanked and draped it on her form.
Shadow was about to leave when he saw a piece of paper folded on Amy's pocket. Out of curiosity he took it out and found the fortune Amy received. It only says about bad luck, but when he looked closely, it was folded. He unfolded it once more and read it fully.
'Bad luck is coming your way... But someone is in the way...'
Shadow raised a brow. He didn't understand what it meant. But it was Amy's fortune, it was hers to figure out.
Placing the paper back in her pockets, Amy began to stir. Shadow cursed at himself and stood up, about to leave when Amy's eyes fluttered open.
"Shuh-Shadow?" Amy asked feebly.
"You fainted. Now go rest." he replied, not giving her a chance to even ask.
"C-Can you stay here w-with me?" Amy asked shyly.
To her surprise, Shadow complied. He laid down beside her, which added more warmth towards Amy. She immediately wrapped her arms around his form. Now it was his turn to be surprised, and it didn't help when she started playing with his chest fur.
Instead of acting awkward and surprised, the ebony hedgehog responded to her affection by draping one arm on the pink hedgehog, and the other started playing with her hair.
"Hey Shadow?" Amy whispered to which Shadow responded with a hum. "Why did you try punching Sonic earlier?"
Shadow paused from running his hand on her hair causing Amy to regret asking that question. He turned away from her -Amy thinking he was going away- only so he could lie on his stomach. "If I answer your question, will you answer mine later?" he said as Amy nodded. "It was during Music at school and, unfortunately... Faker was there with me..."
Flashback...
"-she's got these eyes, and her hair!" Sonic babbled on and on about the female chipmunk.
"Why are you even telling me this?!" Shadow snarled angrily at the blue hedgehog.
"I dunno, guy talk?"
"Can't you think of something else to talk about?" the ebony hedgehog said through gritted teeth.
"Like what, Amy?" he asked lazily as Shadow's eye twitched. Amy was not a 'what', she is a 'who'! "I wouldn't worry about her, I could just turn her down, no biggie."
"You knew?!" Shadow asked, his eyes widening.
Sonic looked at him. "About Amy crushing on me? Uh, yeah... Who else doesn't?"
"And yet you used her!" Shadow growled.
Sonic's eyes widened. "What? Of course not!"
"Then what about all those times you asked her to watch a movie with you? Eat out with you?"
"It was just a friendly hangout."
Shadow glowered at the blue hedgehog in anger. His eyes were practically glowing. He was beyond pissed!
"You idiot!" he yelled in anger. "You do realize that you're just giving her false hope of getting you!"
"Well that's her problem!"
Big mistake. Before the blue hedgehog knew it, he was being strangled, his feet hovering above the floor with Shadow's fist curled in front of him, reading to meet his face when...
"Shadow the Hedgehog!"
End of Flashback...
"I could've smashed his face that time. That lucky bastard..." Shadow said, mumbling the last part.
"You... did that for me?" Amy looked at him in awe.
"Of course I did..." Shadow mumbled against the side of Amy's left ear. "I can't let anyone insult someone important to me..."
Amy's eyes widened. "I'm... important to you?"
Shadow breathed in her scent, and sighed near her left ear making Amy shiver. "I've been wanting to ask you out for awhile, but your mind seemed to be preoccupied by that blue faker." he mumbled as Amy blushed. "But now that he's taken and you probably don't feel the same way about him anymore, I'm gonna say this now."
Amy felt her heart think faster as their eyes met. Shadow was gazing intensely at her with a serious and sincere look.
"I like you Amy Rose." he said without missing a beat. "... and –as for my question– will you go out with me...?" he said with a hint of nervousness.
Amy smiled at him. "Shadow?" she whispered ever so softly as she leaned in and nuzzled his chest, inhaling his scent. "I like you too..."
With that said and done, the two stayed snuggling in the bed with their hearts beating in sync. Amy was calm, not having to worry about anything bad happening to her while Shadow felt content, finally having the person she longed for. The two stayed tangled up together until the sun rose for the next day.
~•~
The next day, Shadow, Amy, Knuckles and Rouge were having a double date at a restaurant across from the Chinese restaurant.
"Really?" Knuckles asked with a bewildered expression as the pink hedgehog leaned on Shadow's shoulder.
The ebony hedgehog rolled his eyes. "Do we have to make-out in front of you to prove it?" he asked with sarcasm before mumbling, "... although that sounds tempting..."
Amy –being the closest to him– punched his shoulder playfully causing Shadow to chuckle and look at her innocently.
"To be honest," Rouge pursed her lips as her friends' attention turned to her. "I kinda figured that you two would end up together..."
"What?" Amy asked, sitting up straight. "How so..."
Rouge giggled, rolling her eyes. "I've known Shadow since we were kids, you guys have know each other for what? Two days and you already seem inseparable."
Amy giggled, agreeing with the bat. "I guess I got comfortable around him quickly..." she said, looking at Shadow as he smiled at her.
"Well, if you two can get comfortable with each other that fast then I wouldn't be surprised if Amy's not a virgin anymore..."
Amy blushed furiously while the onyx hedgehog growled. Knuckles only chuckled at them innocently, as if there wasn't anything wrong with his question. Rouge, seeing his distant friend's reaction, caused an idea to wiggle its way into her mind.
"Knuckie, I don't think Amy would ever do that on the first week of her relationship." Rouge smiled innocently as Amy sighed in relief while Shadow relaxed but still glared at the two. "But, with a guy like Shadow, it is possible."
And with that, Amy's face turned completely red while Shadow glowered at the couple in front of them. Knuckles and Rouge only laughed at them.
And so, the four Mobians continued their evening teasing and laughing at the two blushing hedgehog couples.
Unbeknownst to them, a purple hedgehog was watching them from afar with a faint smile on her lips.
"See sis, I told you nothing bad was going to happen." the black hedgehog, Ion said before walking off when he heard a phone ring.
"Yeah sis, the fortune came true without anyone getting hurt." the white hedgehog, Ion's twin, Broad said.
"I guess you're right then." the purple hedgehog, Rachel shrugged.
"Hey sis?" Ion smirked making Rachel furrow her eyebrows.
"What?" she asked worriedly. Nothing about Ion's features looked good to her.
"You just lost ten followers for not updating Romeo's Balcony."
'Oh no...'

Me: Had a bad day, so I decided to vent out my frustrations out on a story! Though I'm not so proud of the argument with Fiona and Amy. They were so... out of topic. But I guess it's because that's how I argue with people. Use some smart words and phrases, and hope it makes sense -and make me look smart.
Amy: If you don't get the fortune cookie, it says that bad luck is going to happen to me, but Shadow is preventing it from happening.
Shadow: That was the best you can think of?
Me: Think you could do better? I mean, this one-shot literally has like, 8,000+ words. LOL Hope you guys enjoyed. Or rather, hope this one-shot made your day!
